My Fitness Journey
I used to have chronic lower back pain that painkillers barely touched. Sometimes it took me half an hour to get out of bed, and standing for long periods used to be agony, so I know what it’s like to feel as though something is holding you back. The doctors told me I would probably be in pain for the rest of my life.
Feeling like I’d hit a low-point, I realised some changes were needed. I had always felt quite small and weak, so I thought I would give weight training a go, and I quickly fell in love with it. In order to get the most out of my efforts, I decided to make some important lifestyle changes (eat better, sleep more, drink less); and to my delight, I found that my pain started decreasing. After a while, it went away completely! Not only that, but I found I had much more energy throughout the day and felt healthier and more upbeat than I ever had.
With this reclaimed ease of movement, I was able to take up climbing and yoga, and return to training martial arts. I spent the following years learning everything I could about biomechanics, nutrition, and exercise techniques so I could keep building on this amazing thing I had found.
Personal Training
Realising I wanted a career centred around helping others gain a new lease of life, I decided to become a Personal Trainer. My clients have come from all walks but they have this in common: there is something in their life that they need help with.
- A bride-to-be who’s worrying she won’t fit into her dress
- Someone who’s retiring and doesn’t want to lose their health
- The person who wants to get better at their sport
By following my training and nutritional advice, my clients have enjoyed the many benefits of physical exercise, including better weight management; stronger bones, muscles and joints; improved cardiovascular health; and more.
With a little attention to exercise, diet, sleep and stress, you too can upgrade your quality of life more than you ever thought possible. Having a personal trainer on board can provide the guidance and accountability to help you get there.
